Mr. Mahassni’s practice involves corporate, investment, contractors’ law, financing, Islamic transactions and litigation.

In the area of corporate practice, Mr. Mahassni formed many Saudi companies of various types including limited liability companies, general partnerships and joint stock companies.  Among the joint stock companies he has formed are three leading companies, namely Saudi Cable Company, Alujain Corporation and Arabian Mining and Manufacturing Company.

Mr. Mahassni has represented many American, European, Asian and African companies in connection with their investments in Saudi Arabia.  Such investments usually take the form of companies licensed pursuant to the Foreign Investment Law.  Among the many foreign companies Mr. Mahassni has represented in Saudi Arabia are:  Parsons, Daniel, Raytheon, Northrop Page, Litton, Andrew Communications, Hochtief, Suedrorbau, Shell, B.P., Costain, DAF, Skanska, Cable and Wireless, Samwhan and Fudo Construction.

Mr. Mahassni has counseled many contractors in connection with major projects they had undertaken and constructed in Saudi Arabia.  Such projects include:  Jeddah International Airport, King Saud University Campus in Riyadh, Wadi Jizan Dam, Development and Expansion of Jeddah Sea Port.  He also has handled many financing transactions and acted on various occasions for lenders or borrowers including Saudi American Bank, the Saudi French Bank, the Saudi British Bank and Al Rajhi Bank.

Mr. Mahassni’s practice covers Islamic banking and transactions.  For many years he has been advising Dar Al Maal Al Islami (DMI), which is the leading Islamic banking institution worldwide, and many affiliates and subsidiaries of DMI including:  the Islamic Investment Company of the Gulf, Faisal Islamic Bank of Bahrain and Islamic Leasing Company.

Mr. Mahassni practices before all Saudi Courts of all grades and jurisdictions.  As a litigation attorney, Mr. Mahassni has represented major clients including:  BMW, Skanska, BNP, Indo Suez Bank, United Overseas Bank, the Gulf Bank, Hochtief, Siemens, Gallaher, Cadbury, Litton, Raytheon, Philip Holtzman and Bechtel.  The litigation matters handled by Mr. Mahassni have covered innumerable legal issues such as breach of contract, agency, labor, real property, negotiable instruments and trademarks.

Mr. Mahassni has been the principal of the law office of Hassan Mahassni in Jeddah and has trained many Saudi lawyers.  He was consistently recognized in international publications and has been described as “the best Saudi lawyer bar none” by Chambers and Partners and as being “among the most high profile domestic lawyers” by Global Counsel 3000.
